We love to welcome children to Middletown Dental! Dr. Sukumar and Dr. Conti like to begin seeing children for their first dental visits around age three. Choosing a family dentist over a pediatric dentist in Middletown, NJ, can often make it easier for families to fit their dental appointments into their busy schedules since they can have all their visits at one convenient location.

Children have their baby teeth by age three and are ready and excited to meet their dentist. However, if parents have concerns about their little one's teeth or dental health before that, we encourage them to call us for an examination.

What to Expect at Your Child's First Dental Visit

Our dentists spend time helping your child feel comfortable, safe, and at ease in the dental chair during their first visit. We'll count their teeth, show them the tools we use to keep their smile healthy, and we'll only clean their teeth if they feel ready for the procedure.

After a successful first dental visit, your little one should continue to see us every six months for teeth cleanings and checkups, just like you do! This will help us monitor your child's oral development and make you aware of any concerns as early as possible.

Comprehensive Orthodontic Treatment for Your Child's Smile

At Middletown Dental, our dentists also offer comprehensive orthodontic treatment for children and teens, again making it easy to take care of all your dental needs in one convenient location. We'll provide your child's first orthodontic evaluation around age seven since some children can benefit from interceptive orthodontic treatment completed in phases. Early treatment works well for kids with overcrowded teeth or complex bite concerns.

However, early orthodontic treatment isn't for everybody, and most kids can straighten their teeth around 12 or 13.
